Tutoring in Film Composition
Hello, I'm Sam and I can help you learn how to create high quality music for Film in Logic Pro X. In these lessons, I will walk you through specific projects using real life examples, or work on projects you may have for University/collage/Personal.
As a composer I've written music for broadcast (notably on BT Sport) and a number of production company. I've had my worked performed by the BBC NOW wind quintet. I also have a 1st Class degree in Music from Bangor University, and won university awards for my compositions.
Learn the basics to advanced levels, 3rd party plugins, automations, midi, where to find high quality virtual instruments, and learn the tricks I wished I'd been told when I started out in this industry!

Sampling
I created a Kontakt instrument (VST) of a gorgeous upright piano situated in the chapel corner of a Later Day Saint meeting house. I sampled every note creating two dynamic layers as well as 'off triggers' (or releases) to give it a more authentic sound. I then edited and scripted it within Kontakt.

While experimenting with different techniques to record a marimba at my university, I found myself attempting to play it like a piano (as my main instrument is the piano). No surprise the keys were a little big for my hand, but I loved the organic, woody, percussive sound that came from tapping the bars. So, I decided to sample it so that I could play it on a keyboard!
I used a stereo pair of AKG C414s and added a hall reverb to the kontakt instrument that can be controlled with the mod wheel. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
